Andrew Snaith caught up with former Whitby Town player, Tyler Scarth

Tyler joined in January 2016 on loan from Accrington Stanley and then permanently, until the end of the season, making 12 appearances. He joined Norton & Stockton Ancients in July 2016.

My first impressions of the club were fantastic. All the staff and players were very welcoming and sessions were of a brilliant standard in training. Then when it came to my first game, the stadium has a big wow factor with the big stand and the supporters were excellent with me in my time there, especially with me only being a young lad.

How I ended up joining Whitby was my connection with Lee Bullock as he was my coach at the Hartlepool Academy. Then when I was on my scholarship with Accrington Stanley, I wanted a loan move to play senior football. We were in regular contact and he approached Accrington about a loan move.

The most memorable game was the win (2-1 over Barwell) that secured our safety when Adam Gell scored that absolute screamer from around 30 yards out. That was a buzz I will never forget. All the lads were pretty local, so outside of football, I never really saw them much as I’m from Cramlington, but training was always a good laugh. There was a great bunch of lads.

After leaving Whitby, I went on to play for Bedlington Terriers and was there for about a year. I then signed for Blyth Spartans Reserves for about three months and then Alnwick for around five months, then my coaching took over and I have been coaching non stop ever since. I’ve recently just signed a scholarship to go and play at a college over in America.

I'm also hoping to start doing a lot of coaching over in America - that’s the main aim. I have two U11’s teams and one U14’s school team and then do lots of soccer skills sessions too alongside that.

My love for football meant I knew that I couldn’t give up something I’d spent my whole life doing, so I got my Level 2 coaching badge while I was at Accrington, then decided to give it a go and discovered I love it.

I think every English coach aspires to be England’s coach and me being a Sunderland fan would love to be able to coach the club I love - especially in the circumstances that Sunderland are in right now!

Coaches that inspire me right now would be Marco Bielsa, as I love his style, his methods and the way his teams are set up. They’re very different and his ideas are extraordinary. I love Guardiola for his love for the extra detail in everything that happens on a football pitch. And finally, I love Klopp for his enthusiasm and passion.
