Duo return for trip to Hyde United

Duo return for trip to Hyde United

Liam Ryder10 Jan 2020 - 12:46

Chris Hardy will welcome two players back to his match day squad at Ewen Fields

Whitby Town travel to the outskirts of Manchester to take on Hyde United at Ewen Fields in the BetVictor Northern Premier on Saturday afternoon (3pm).

The Seasiders come into the game on the back of a 2-2 draw with Gainsborough Trinity in a match where Town had to come from behind twice to level matters.

Hyde, on the other hand, took a battering as they lost out 5-1 at home to FC United of Manchester.

Earlier in the season, Whitby went top of the league after defeating the Tigers at home with goals from Dale Hopson and Bradley Fewster firing Town to the summit on a sunny September afternoon.

In terms of returning players for this meeting, Chris Hardy is set to bring Callum Patton and Greg Rutherford into the squad after both have recovered from their respective injuries.

Patton has spent the past month on loan at Northern League Division One side, North Shields in an aim of returning to full match fitness.

Missing out at Ewen Fields will be Luke Bythway, who serves the second match of his suspension as well as the scorers from the earlier meeting, Dale Hopson and Bradley Fewster who are injured.

Looking ahead to the fixture, Chris Hardy said the following: "We're going from one extreme to the other as we'll be playing on a perfect pitch. We'll have to change our approach to what we're doing as we've got a different proposition in terms of the playing surface. We'll try to move the ball quickly into advanced areas and try to win the first and second balls."

The supporters' bus will be leaving the Towbar Express Stadium at the Turnbull Ground at 10:15am (£10 per person).

Admission at Ewen Fields is £10 for adults, £7 for Concessions and £5 for Under 16's. There is an additional £1 charge for those who wish to sit in the main stand.

If you are unable to make it to the game there is LIVE commentary on Yorkshire Coast Radio Extra, as well as updates on Twitter.
