Work is now well underway as we prepare for the 2023/24 Pitching In Northern Premier League Premier Division campaign.
In what is set to be one of the most competitive divisions in recent years at the level, everyone at Whitby Town is keen to ensure that the club can show its full potential both on and off the pitch.
We may not have the riches of other clubs in the league, and player recruitment, as has been the case for some time now, proves to be a challenge season in, season out.
On the pitch, the Seasiders are looking to build on what was a largely positive second half of the 2022/23 season which saw Nathan Haslam guide us to safety with games to spare, despite a nightmare start to the campaign which saw us pick up just one point in our first seven matches.
Since its inception in 2018, 1926 Club investors have helped former Town boss Chris Hardy, along with Lee Bullock and Nathan Haslam assemble their squads and build as and when required as seasons developed.
Exciting loan deals for the likes of Malik Dijksteel and Harry Green would not have been possible without supporters contributing into the 1926 Club - a separate fund that is solely for use on investing in the playing side of matters at the football club.
Last season, the fund aided the loans for Grimsby Town duo Jamie Bramwell and Aaron Braithwaite.
Admittedly, the fund wasn't utilised as much as it should have been during the 2022/23 season. Partly, that was down to the early season results on the pitch, however, on the whole, as a club, we didn't make the most of the generous support that we know we have from our fantastic supporters.
We want to change that approach during the upcoming 2023/24 campaign and really go for it with the 1926 Club players' fund.
Managed by our Secretary, Stephen Shields, the 1926 Club is officially back and we are now welcoming pledges of all kinds which will be paid into the fund weekly once the new season gets underway!
As part of promoting the fund, we will be providing weekly updates on funds currently in the pot with a break down of exactly who has paid what into the account.
Typical examples of past pledges include...
We are very much open to ideas so please get in touch via email to stevley_2@hotmail.co.uk with a pledge that you will commit to throughout the season.
